Sara Buffey and Christine Carlos Quiggins from Saratoga High School's Community-Based Instruction program earned Teacher of the Season recognition from Special Olympics Northern California. Buffey, an energetic special education teacher, brings creativity to lessons while supporting student participation in Special Olympics goals and teaching teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship. Quiggins connects classroom learning to real-world experiences by integrating academics, social skills, vocational readiness and self-advocacy into her program. Both teachers' nominations advance to the 2025 Person of the Year selection process in the Educator category. The recognition honors educators demonstrating exemplary commitment to students, schools and the Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools Partnership Program.
