Sara Buffey and Christine Carlos Quiggins, Community-Based Instruction teachers at Saratoga High School, have been honored as Fall Semester 2025 Teachers of the Season by Special Olympics Northern California. The recognition celebrates educators demonstrating exceptional dedication to students and the Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools Partnership Program. Buffey brings enthusiasm and creativity to special education, actively supporting student participation in Special Olympics while teaching teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship. Quiggins connects classroom learning to real-world experiences, integrating academics, social skills, vocational readiness and self-advocacy. Both teachers' nominations advance to the 2025 Person of the Year selection process in the Educator category.
