San Jose school districts won't comply with ICE - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

In response to recent ICE raids in San Jose, local school districts are rallying to protect their undocumented students. Mayor Matt Mahan's confirmation of ICE activity has prompted districts to ensure that schools remain safe havens. Initiatives include creating resources on immigration rights and training for staff and families. For instance, the Berryessa Union School District launched a dedicated web page to inform families about their rights and local resources. Trustee Hugo Jiménez emphasized the districts' commitment to safeguarding the educational experiences of undocumented students amidst the looming threat of deportation.
"(Parents) shouldn't have to worry about sending their kids to school. We'll do our best to protect their rights. Our responsibility as school districts, educators, is to make sure students have a safe environment they can go to and focus on learning."
Berryessa Union School District has created an immigration support resources page on its website featuring information on people's rights and links to the Santa Clara County Office of Immigration Relations, county Office of Education, California Attorney General, Immigrant Legal Resource Center and Immigrant Defense Project.
