REPORT: North Carolina's Education System Stuck in Cycle of Racism
Briefly

Across North Carolina's 115 school districts, this year's data shows worse disparities experienced by Black students as compared with white students when it comes to receiving short-term suspensions and being referred to the juvenile justice system than at any time since the COVID pandemic.
"We are seeing widening disparities that continue to be unfairly shouldered by Black students across the state. Eliminating these sorts of disparities should be everyone's priority. We need justice within our school systems."
Across the state, white students in grades 3-8 were 2.2 times more likely to score "Career and College Ready" on final exams than Black students.
Asheville City Schools has the worst disparity in the state, with white students 10.7 times more likely to score "Career and College Ready" on final exams than Black students.
