Students in Colorado taunted Black classmates by playing whipping sounds on cellphones and saying they should be shot "to make us a better race." The only two Black students in a small Ohio district were called the N-word, labeled "porch monkey," and told to go pick cotton. In Illinois, white students included Confederate flags in class presentations and shook a school bus as Black students exited. The Office for Civil Rights previously struck agreements requiring districts to change practices and monitor compliance. Under the second Trump administration, OCR has entered no new racial-harassment resolution agreements in nearly a year.
