Prep talk: Sophomore guard Sho Evans is coming on fast for Cleveland
""It was hard," he said. "I was trying not to mess up.""
""I learned to play with confidence and take what the defense gives me," he said."
"He's had a 39-point game and isn't afraid to launch a three."
"The Dodgers have Shohei Ohtani, but Cleveland is happy to have its own Sho."
Sho Evans was thrown into the fire as a freshman guard and initially struggled, saying he tried not to mess up. As a 6-foot-4 sophomore he shows growing confidence and calmness, has produced a 39-point game and is willing to shoot from outside. He says he learned to play with confidence and take what the defense gives him. Evans provides Cleveland High another offensive weapon alongside 6-8 center Sergine Deme and guards TJ Wansa and Charlie Adams. Evans scored 17 points in a recent win over Granada Hills, and his first name reflects Japanese roots.
