"The safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priorities, and we will do everything in our power to continue to support them in the days ahead," stated Pepperdine University president Jim Gash, emphasizing the institution's commitment amidst the wildfire threat.
Due to the wildfire, Pepperdine University canceled final exams scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 10, and all subsequent in-person exams, allowing professors until Dec. 19 to submit final grades.
Students at Pepperdine were shielded from the worst of the Franklin fire, with reports indicating minimal damage to campus infrastructure and no injuries among the university community.
Administrators have encouraged faculty to offer students the option of taking their current grade instead of completing a final exam, ensuring flexibility in these unprecedented circumstances.
