'It was mad cool': Impressions of the solar eclipse from Staten Island Academy

To celebrate this rare phenomenon, Staten Island Academy, which serves students in pre-K through high school, gifted all students and staff solar eclipse glasses, and the school also incorporated the eclipse into its elementary school curriculum.
"The younger students greatly enjoyed discussing the topic, asking many questions and contributing their knowledge to the conversation. This opportunity to dispel misconceptions and learn more about the relationship of the Earth, sun and moon just couldn't be missed," said Clay Wollney, the school's Science Department chair.
One student exclaimed: "It was pretty exciting to see the moon move in front of the sun with the glasses!"
