"This app allows students and families to see their bus assignments, track the bus location in real time, and receive alerts about delays and updated ETAs," Wu said.
"We know that there are many, many moving pieces to building the best public school system on the planet," Wu said. "With this kind of partnership and persistence, community engagement and energy and the right technology, we're making some big strides as we head into this next school year."
"This is the most precious cargo that we have navigating our streets," Wu said. "This will be a big step forward in how we can ensure that families have that peace of mind, real time information, and the ability to communicate."
By the end of the first week, nearly 90% of bus drivers were able to successfully use the Zum system while completing their routes, Skipper said in a committee hearing earlier this summer.
