'Hello baby carrots': D.C. kids learn how to garden and cook vegetables

Nearly a dozen kindergartners lifted their tiny fingers to wave to the small plant. 'Hello little babies,' they said in unison.
Students learn how to grow, harvest and cook different plants, integrating social and emotional learning, English, language arts, mathematics, and other subjects.
The FRESHFARM Foodprints program started in 2005 and has since expanded to work with 19 schools and roughly 7,000 kids in Washington D.C.
