Government to spend 9m on pouches to lock away phones in schools

Minister Foley stated, "We want a uniform approach where there will be no access to mobile phones throughout the school day," emphasizing the importance of minimizing distractions for students.

Foley believes that not having mobile phones will improve learning: "It's a very positive, proactive step to encourage young people to take a mental break from the mobile phones while they're at school."

Opposition TD Gary Gannon criticized the funding, saying, "It beggars belief that the Government should squander millions on phone pouches," highlighting the disparity in school funding.
