From the classroom to the bookstore, Bay Area 4th graders publish children's book
"4th grader Harper expressed her excitement, stating, 'Always wanted to, like, publish a book, so this might be the only chance I would ever publish a book.'"
"Student author Alexander stated, 'I never thought that I would be an author. I always wanted to write a book.'"
"Jesse, another student, described their process: 'We all drew our pictures, and then we had a writing team come in, figure out how to write the words. Lastly, we put it into a book.'"
"Harper read aloud from the book, explaining, 'Bob didn't really care about helping anyone, but some things started to change.'"
Ryan Brazil's 4th grade class published a children's book titled 'Thank You: A Story About Kindness and Transformation.' Students Harper and Alexander expressed their dreams of authorship, while Jesse described their collaborative process of illustrating and writing. The story follows Bob, a initially grumpy man who learns kindness through accidental acts. This transformation allows him to become a better person, celebrated during a book signing event at a local bookstore. The book's availability online and in stores was a significant achievement for the students.
