Families with children aged four to six due to start primary school in 2026 are invited to collect a free My Little Library Bag from their local library branch. The bag includes books focused on starting school, making friends, and building confidence, along with information and supports for parents. Children are encouraged to sign up for free library membership to support literacy development and develop a lifelong love of reading. The initiative was launched on May 8 by Minister Norma Foley and Minister of State Jerry Buttimer. It is funded by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality, delivered through library services nationwide, and includes additional resources such as social story cards, guidance for parents, and dyslexia-related information.
