Federal judge throws out Biden's Title IX overhaul
Briefly

Chief Judge Danny Reeves of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky stated that the new Title IX rule "weighs heavily on Title IX" and noted severe constitutional issues this regulation introduces. Specifically, he highlighted that a requirement for teachers to use preferred pronouns could infringe upon First Amendment rights, revealing deep concerns over government mandates conflicting with personal beliefs and free speech, effectively inadequately supporting the very intent of Title IX.
Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women's Law Center, expressed that the ruling represents a significant departure from established legal principles, marking a "disproportionate attack on trans students”. She emphasized the continued adverse effects this ruling could have on the educational experiences and overall well-being of transgender youths, leaving them vulnerable amid shifting legal landscapes that previously promised greater protections under Title IX.
