Dewan: Streamlining the teacher credentialing process - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

Thanks to Senate Bill 153, candidates in most credential programs in California no longer need to provide additional evidence of competence in basic skills if they hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
This new option to bypass basic skills requirements by submitting official transcripts showing degree conferral aims to address teacher shortage and reduce roadblocks to the education profession.
Individuals considering a teaching career or who had applied previously and not been accepted may benefit from this change as it eliminates barriers to obtaining a teaching credential.
