Columbia suspends protesters, Northwestern reaches compromise
Briefly

Columbia University has started suspending students who refuse to leave the pro-Palestinian encampment on campus, following failed negotiations with protesters and administrators.
The university issued warnings to students to leave by 2 p.m., sign a document promising to follow conduct policies until 2025, or face suspension. Failure to comply could lead to sanctions including expulsion.
Suspended students face restrictions on accessing Columbia campuses, facilities, and properties. The Students for Justice in Palestine chapter urged participants not to sign the document and called for support from the university community.
Despite the deadline passing with no significant changes in the encampment, picketers eventually dispersed. The situation continues to unfold with faculty and staff guarding the entrance.
