College students are less depressed, more mentally well
Briefly

The latest Healthy Minds study reveals a decline in depression among college students, with 38% experiencing symptoms this year compared to 44% two years ago, signaling hope.
Although the percentage of students experiencing moderate to severe depression has decreased, the current rate is still slightly above pre-pandemic levels, hovering at 36% in fall 2019.
Rates of positive mental health have shown a significant increase, from 32% in 2022 to 38% this year, indicating improvements in students’ overall well-being.
Justin Heinze notes, "The absence of negative mental health didn’t necessarily mean students were feeling really positive about things. It's exciting as improvements signal positive changes."
