'Student organizations from Berkeley public schools and UC Berkeley spent Tuesday demanding an end to Israel's military action in Gaza and, more recently, against Lebanon... organized a walkout of around 100 students Tuesday, gathering first at Civic Center Park.'
'Organizers said students were frustrated with what they saw as inadequate instruction on the history of Palestine and the conflict currently raging in Gaza, and that they wanted Berkeley's City Council to call for a cease-fire and other concessions for Palestine.'
'The district has faced legal pressure... accusing it of antisemitism in culture and curricula. Some parents have slammed the complaints as a harassment tactic meant to have a chilling effect on instruction on Palestine... but some others have said Jewish children have been harassed and intimidated at school.'
