An Irish Goodbye... from Phuket: 'I feel like Thailand is one of the best countries in the world to live in as a gay woman'
""I was a teacher in Ireland for eight years before I went to teach in Abu Dhabi in 2016. At that point, I had no plan to not live in Ireland for the rest of my life.""
""But a lot of my friends were going to Abu Dhabi to make money, travel and earn tax-free. So I thought, 'I'll do this for a year or two.'""
""I went over, and that was the start of me realising that the world has a lot more has to offer, and that life is a little bit more exciting in other countries at times.""
Victoria St Leger, originally from Cork, Ireland, taught for eight years before moving to Abu Dhabi in 2016. Initially planning to stay in Ireland, she was influenced by friends who sought better financial opportunities abroad. Her experience in Abu Dhabi opened her eyes to the possibilities of living in different countries, leading her to appreciate the excitement and opportunities that life outside Ireland can offer.
