Academic struggles compel many students to leave college

Three out of five students surveyed mentioned academic underperformance as a key reason for leaving college, along with financial constraints and family responsibilities, according to the American Council on Education (ACE) and the School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA.
The report analyzed data from 8,559 students across 15 institutions, revealing insights such as 70% using financial aid, 57% being students of color, and various demographic representations in the surveyed population.
Among the surveyed students, 70% used financial aid, 57% were students of color, 32% identified as LGBTQ+, 26% were first-generation college students, 26% were 25 or older, and 34% had an annual household income below $40,000.
