A step in the right direction:' Berkeley task force recommends cash payments for Black students

Credit: BUSD Berkeley schools could begin providing cash payments to students whose ancestors were enslaved in the U.S. and develop a new curriculum for teaching the history of chattel slavery as part of a future reparations program for Black students.
While no plan has been formally approved or specific action proposed, the school district's board of directors expressed interest and support for the ideas presented by the task force.
