Peanuts Deluxe Cafe, cherished by San Jose State students, is on the market for $300,000 as owner Joe Huh seeks to care for his ailing parents. After taking over in 2018 and remodeling the 50-year-old diner, Huh reflects on the emotional difficulty of selling, emphasizing his hope for the buyer to maintain the cafe's student-friendly ethos. Notable for its affordable diner fare and lively atmosphere during special events, the cafe stands as a community pillar near the university, making its potential change a point of concern for loyal patrons.
"It was a hard decision on my part," Huh said. "I was actually wrestling with that decision for a good month and a half."
"I don't really mind if they change the restaurant or whatever, as long as they are friendly to the college," Huh said.
"They drink like seven kegs, that was my record so far," Huh said. "We have a jukebox here and they play all the music. They just have fun."
"The sooner the better," Huh said.
