Store owner Jen Waicukauski was alerted by her security system at 5:37 a.m., witnessing the crime unfold via live footage. The suspects rammed a vehicle into the storefront multiple times to gain entry. Responding promptly, the Berkeley police arrived within nine minutes. The community has rallied in support, while the store remains operational through a side entrance as repairs are initiated by the landlord and staff recover from the destruction.
