An earthquake measuring 3.4 magnitude shook the East Bay near Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve in South Berkeley. No damage or injuries were reported.
The Hayward fault line that the earthquake occurred along poses the risk of major earthquakes every 100 to 200 years, with the last significant one being 150 years ago.
