In Palo Alto, a 50-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly spitting on a man in his sixties and shouting a racial epithet directed at Black individuals. Police were dispatched to Lytton Plaza following reports of a fight. Witnesses described the confrontation, where the woman approached the victim without provocation. After the act, the individual departed the area due to fear. Officers located and detained the suspect, who continued her aggressive behavior. She is facing multiple misdemeanor charges, including hate crime.
Officers were called to Lytton Plaza in the 200 block of University Avenue around 6 p.m. Saturday for a report of a fight, the Palo Alto Police Department said in a news release.
The woman was booked into Santa Clara County jail on misdemeanor charges of disturbing the peace, battery and committing a hate crime, as well as a warrant for vandalism.
