Whether it's a lunch for two or a catered event, Oaklandia Cafe has the goods
Briefly

Latorra Monk, inspired by childhood memories of cooking in her family's West Oakland yard, has launched Oaklandia Cafe x Bakery. Located in a bustling area of the city, the cafe emphasizes fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, offering a menu that merges traditional American fare with eclectic international options. Monk, handling menu design and guest interactions, partners with her husband Carlos, a self-taught pastry chef who bakes a variety of items in-house. Their diverse offerings reflect a blend of cultural flavors and maintain a commitment to quality and locality, showcasing their culinary roots and community connections.
As early as age 5, when Latorra Monk played in her family's West Oakland yard, she brought along a pie tin. These were just childhood pastimes, but they really stayed with me.
True to her youthful self, the cafe emphasizes fresh vegetables - along with local coffee roasters and homemade everything. We try to get most of our produce from Jack London Square local growers and suppliers.
Basically our menu reflects all cultures and a range of flavors, including a non-traditional Jewish deli-style pastrami sandwich and a Latin-inspired chicken torta.
Monk enjoys doing the menus, interacting with the guests and focusing on the flavors, while Carlos, a self-trained pastry chef, creates a mix of classic and nouveau baked goods.
