Track equipment problem closes down BART service in East Bay
Briefly

BART experienced a service interruption early Wednesday due to an equipment issue affecting its track between the Hayward and South Hayward stations. This disruption, which involved the green line, forced BART to halt operations between Union City and Bay Fair. Customers were advised to board Richmond-bound trains from Bay Fair for travel to Oakland and San Francisco. Despite the resumption of service at 7:40 a.m., significant delays continued in various directions. In response to the situation, AC Transit stepped in to honor BART fares and transport passengers via bus between affected stations.
BART's early Wednesday service disruption was due to an equipment problem, specifically a computer issue between the Hayward and South Hayward stations, affecting major lines.
BART spokesperson Chris Filippi confirmed that although the line was re-opened at 7:40 a.m., significant delays persisted in directions towards Berryessa, Richmond, and Daly City.
The closure required trains to be turned back at Union City and Bay Fair stations, prompting alternative travel suggestions for passengers headed to Oakland and San Francisco.
To assist affected commuters, AC Transit provided bus services between Bay Fair and Hayward and between Hayward and Union City, while honoring BART fares.
