FDA inspectors found that the water used to make Tom's Simply White Clean Mint Toothpaste was contaminated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a dangerous bacteria linked to infections.
Despite multiple instances of bacterial contamination in 2021 and 2022, Tom's of Maine ignored these issues, continuing to release potentially unsafe products to consumers.
Tom's stated they are working with the FDA to address the contamination problems and maintain they always test finished products, yet evidence suggests otherwise.
FDA noted that Tom's disregarded over 400 consumer complaints regarding the quality of their toothpaste, including concerning odor, color, and taste, particularly for children's products.
