The hottest ticket in town this weekend is undoubtedly, the friendly soccer match between Mexico vs. Japan that will bring thousands to the Oakland Coliseum ahead of next year's World Cup. But, if you're not a soccer fan, there's also the Black Liberation Walking Tour to learn more about West Oakland. If you're into magic, there's also the Oakland Magic Circle's 100th anniversary show and gala.
On the first Thursday of every month, the restaurant Xingones in Jack London Square opens its doors to East Oakland-based artist and community activist, Sloane Gross, for "Cheeky Thursdays," a night of tasty small bites, complementary "chiqui shots" sponsored by rotating spirit companies, rotating DJs every month, and a paint-and-sip activation led by Gross. The event is organized by Solid Grounds Co., a Black woman-owned event production company based in Oakland.
