The mandated abatement equipment has been effective in reducing the shredder's potential to emit precursor organic compound emissions from its stacks from approximately 236.7 tons per year to just 5.1 tons per year, as well as in greatly reducing risks from toxic air contaminants.
Radius Recycling's air emissions control infrastructure features state-of-the-art equipment that the Air District has found to significantly reduce emissions from the metal recycling process.
Most of the violations that were resolved by this settlement were attributable to equipment problems and other engineering issues that were not discovered until after source testing was completed.
We are pleased to have enhanced the performance of this equipment and will continue to work closely with our neighbors and the Air District to provide essential and responsible recycling services for the Bay Area community.
