LakeFest Oakland attracted a large crowd to Lake Merritt, uniting foodies, music lovers, and local artists in a vibrant celebration of Oakland's diversity. After road closures from previous events limited social gatherings, this year’s festival offered a much-needed platform for community connection. Attendees enjoyed performances by local artists, the welcoming atmosphere encouraged family participation, and attendees expressed gratitude for the communal spirit. Quotes from attendees highlighted the importance of including children in such gatherings, emphasizing that every event fostering togetherness feels significant in Oakland's close-knit yet expansive community.
"It's important to include your children in your life, reasonably. Like, I wouldn't go to Coachella with my baby but we're around the corner from my mother in law's house," Andrea Weaver told The Oaklandside.
"Oakland is the biggest, smallest town on Earth, and there is something here- and any time we do anything- and we come together in a real way, it feels big. My cup is full, it's overflowing," she said.
"I really enjoyed the music, but I really enjoy spending time with my daughter," said Henry, who lives in Sacramen.
