Oakland property owners: It's time to collect your money from the CWS lawsuit
Briefly

Owners of multifamily properties overcharged by Oakland's recycling contractor must apply for refunds by January 12, 2025; some may receive up to $125,000.
In a 2017 lawsuit, Oakland claimed California Waste Solutions overcharged residents nearly five times the allowable amount, resulting in roughly $6 million in overpayments.
Despite being eligible, only 28% of property owners had filed claims for refunds as of last month; notices were mailed out with necessary claim codes.
Property owners can either claim their refunds by the deadline or opt to pursue their own lawsuits against the recycling company before December 31, 2024.
