Firefighters worked tirelessly to combat the 5-alarm Keller Fire, which erupted in East Oakland, damaging two homes and prompting evacuations, although no injuries were reported.
The fire, which grew to 15 acres, was stopped from progressing further by 4 p.m. on Friday, with Cal Fire reporting it was 50% contained by the next day.
A shelter was established at the Ira Jenkins Community Center for those displaced, while residents of some evacuation zones began returning home, though others remained restricted.
Concerns persist about dry conditions and strong winds affecting firefighting efforts, with a Red Flag Warning in effect for parts of the Bay Area until Saturday evening.
