"I think it's just really important to embrace and cherish our history," said Meredith Lee, emphasizing the need to promote Japanese and Japanese-American culture through new events.
"We look forward to working with Meredith because with her background and abilities, I'm sure she will bring Hakone to a new chapter and a new height," stated Emily Lo during the board's welcome.
"I'd like to collaborate with more small businesses and different groups within Saratoga and kind of promote our city, and businesses and the gardens," Lee expressed her desire to engage with the local community.
Lee revealed that the foundation has been working on a fundraising campaign to address the deteriorating 100-year-old koi pond, hoping to begin construction by fall 2025.
