Man who killed two California police officers in 1982 dies in Bay Area prison
Briefly

Jackson Chambers Daniels Jr. died in state prison on August 16 at the age of 86, while receiving hospice care, as confirmed by the Riverside Police Department.
Daniels was convicted of the 1982 murders of Riverside police officers Phillip Trust and Dennis Doty after he shot them while being arrested on a warrant.
Both the conviction and the sentence handed to Daniels were overturned initially due to ineffective counsel but he was retried and sentenced to death again in 2010.
The lives of Officers Trust and Doty are commemorated at the Safe in His Arms memorial and Doty Trust Park, established to honor their sacrifice.
