Mago month-long event series showcases diversity of Latin American cuisines
"The series runs from Sept. 14 - Oct. 11 and will feature cultural programming, community partnerships and various chef collaborations to highlight the diversity of Latin American culture through food. Liberman, a Bay Area native, created this series to celebrate his heritage as a Colombian-American, and to showcase the flavors, traditions and culinary innovations of Latin-American chefs. Latin American Heritage Month in the United States runs from mid-September to mid-October, coinciding with Mexican Independence (Sept. 16)"
"Cajas, who is known for blending modern technique with traditional Costa Rican flavors, hopes that his upcoming event will inspire more people to explore Costa Rican cuisine. "While some countries are already well known in this field, others, like Costa Rica, are working hard to show the world that we're more than just coffee and nature," Cajas said."
Chef Mark Liberman and his team at Mago, an Oakland Latin American fine dining bistro, will host a month-long dinner series running Sept. 14–Oct. 11 with cultural programming, community partnerships and chef collaborations. The series highlights the diversity of Latin American culture through food and showcases flavors, traditions and culinary innovations from across the region. The seven-part lineup brings international talent such as Colombian Michelin-starred chef Juan "Juana" Manuel Barrientos and Costa Rican chef Pedro Cajas alongside local Bay Area chefs. Events coincide with Latin American Heritage Month and regional independence celebrations.
