GotJuice leaves the Laurel district, and Berkeley loses an iconic institution
Briefly

The East Bay's restaurant scene recently faced several closures, affecting local neighborhoods deeply. GotJuice, a beloved juice bar in Oakland's Laurel district, closed, with owner Terrell Elliott expressing that it was more than just a business to him. High Peaks Kitchen, an Indian eatery in Rockridge, also announced its permanent closing, with co-owner Tsultrim Dorjee highlighting the bittersweet nature of the decision. K Street, known for its Korean snacks, and the Musical Offering Cafe and Bistro, an iconic Berkeley venue, also shut down, marking the end of significant community establishments.
"Serving the Laurel district has been more than just business - it's been family," said GotJuice owner Terrell Elliott, reflecting on the emotional impact of closure.
"This is a bittersweet moment because, while I feel it's the right decision for my well-being, I am unsure of what the future holds," co-owner Tsultrim Dorjee commented on High Peaks Kitchen's closure.
The Musical Offering Cafe and Bistro, a beloved community space, struggled with financial loss for years, yet held on to serve its dedicated patrons as long as possible.
K Street, known for its playful atmosphere and variety of Korean snacks, was described by a Yelp reviewer as a whimsical joint before its unfortunate shutdown.
