Environmental organization seeks injunction to stop Oakland Airport terminal redevelopment

Communities for Better Environment, in their lawsuit against the Port of Oakland, states the approved Environmental Impact Report inadequately assesses the negative impacts on East Oakland’s marginalized communities including air quality and noise pollution, raising critical issues regarding environmental justice.

CBE associate attorney Sarah Chen Small emphasized, "It's very concerning that a project could move forward and have potential environmental impacts that have not been disclosed and haven't been analyzed," highlighting gaps in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act.

Port spokesperson Kaley Skantz defended the project's EIR, stating, "The EIR is a product of years of careful study, community outreach, and careful deliberation preceding the November vote," showcasing their commitment to addressing future air travel demands.
