A serious multi-car crash on the Bay Bridge late Friday night involved a high-speed collision that left one man dead and another injured. The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident was triggered when a speeding Genesis sedan rear-ended a slower Toyota Corolla, resulting in a chain reaction with two additional vehicles. The crash caused major traffic delays and led to the temporary closure of four lanes of westbound I-80 for investigation. Despite earlier speculations about impairment, CHP confirmed it is not suspected in this incident.
The crash, which occurred around 11:15 p.m. on the westbound lanes of I-80 near the incline, caused major traffic disruption and temporarily shut down four lanes.
The impact triggered a chain reaction, causing the Corolla to collide with a second silver Toyota, which then struck a fourth vehicle a gray Toyota.
