On May 3, a 26-year-old Tesla worker named Taniela Finau Hafoka was tragically killed while on a break outside the Fremont factory, struck by a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Hung Vuu, who has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Hafoka, a father of three, was standing on the sidewalk when he was hit by a red Honda Accord that was traveling in the wrong direction, highlighting the tragic consequences of impaired driving.
Witnesses reported that the Honda continued driving for another 1,000 feet after the collision, almost colliding with other vehicles before crashing into a pole, reflecting the reckless nature of the incident.
Authorities noted that the driver, Vuu, had a strong smell of alcohol and displayed signs of intoxication when found in the driver's seat, underscoring serious concerns about driving under the influence.
