Double amputee died with pending Hayward murder charge
Briefly

In 2024, a murder case against Gary Garcia was formally dismissed after he passed away. He was accused of fatally stabbing his wife, Analee Mariano Garcia, during a dispute. Following the incident, Garcia surrendered to the police, and later, due to his deteriorating health, he was released to a hospital. Three months after his release, prosecutors announced his death from natural causes, leading to the case's dismissal. Garcia had previously claimed self-defense during the altercation with his wife.

Both of Garcia's legs had been amputated, and his death appears to be due to natural causes, authorities said.
