Comcast moving Bay Area's NBC Sports channels to higher tier
Briefly

Beginning Tuesday, Comcast's Popular TV tier will not include NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California, making these channels available only to Ultimate TV subscribers.
The difference in price between the tiers is about $20 in the Bay Area, and most subscribers who watch the regional sports networks are already on the Ultimate TV level.
Comcast is moving about 30 regional sports networks across the U.S. into the Ultimate tier as their contracts come up, highlighting a significant shift in sports programming access.
The rising cost of programming rights, particularly for sports, and a changing business model led to the decision to remove these channels from the Popular TV service.
