Black cats have bad luck at Oakland animal shelters
Briefly

"Black cats have the hardest time getting adopted. It's such a sad phenomenon," said Ann Dunn, interim director of Oakland Animal Services, highlighting the ongoing stigma toward these felines.
Dunn explained that factors contributing to this taboo include old-school superstition, visual preferences for colorful cats, and potentially a larger influx of black cats into shelters.
On a recent check of the shelter's website, the first seven animals listed on the 'adoptable cats' page were black, illustrating the overwhelming need for homes for these animals.
Current shelter conditions revealed that almost all kittens in the shelter were black, which reflects a pressing urgency for adopting these often-overlooked pets.
