Ursula Jones Dickson has been appointed as Alameda County's new district attorney, following the unprecedented recall of Pamela Price. Supported by three of the county's Board of Supervisors, she outperformed six other finalists and will serve until 2026. With a decade of experience as a judge, Jones Dickson promotes herself as an apolitical candidate focused on improving the DA's office. Her appointment comes amidst a turbulent period in the county's justice system, with the DA's office having gone through three leadership changes in two years.
Minutes after being selected, Jones Dickson told reporters she felt blessed, adding: I gotta get to work I want to get in here as soon as possible and do the best we can to keep folks as safe as possible.
Jones Dickson was among two candidates endorsed by the campaign that led the recall against Price. She touted her candidacy as an apolitical option given her time on the bench.
