Acclaimed Walnut Creek Indonesian restaurant shutters
Briefly

SanDai, a beloved restaurant specializing in Malay cuisine, has closed permanently after struggling with declining foot traffic and a substantial monthly rent of $28,500. The decision to shutter was made as the business could not sustain profitability in its Walnut Creek location at 1522 N. Main St. despite its iconic dishes like Nasi Lemak. However, the eatery's associated coffee and pastry venture, Kopi Bar, will continue operating and is set to relocate to a more active area soon.
SanDai, a popular purveyor of cuisine spanning the Malay archipelago, has closed its doors for good due to dwindling foot traffic and high rent.
Although SanDai has ceased operations, its coffee and pastry side, Kopi Bar, plans to expand to a higher-traffic area in the near future.
