Tariff uncertainty from the Trump administration continues to impact the PC industry despite manufacturers attempting to navigate regulatory challenges. Currently, computers are exempt from proposed import taxes, with concerns that these tariffs may harm local economies. Market researchers note a shift in US PC imports from China to Vietnam to dodge tariffs. Although shipments increased as businesses stockpiled before Windows 10's end of support, the looming threat of tariffs creates unpredictability, affecting both businesses and consumers looking to make purchases.
"The Trump administration's evolving tariff policies continue to reshape global PC supply chains while casting significant uncertainty over market recovery," said principal analyst Ben Yeh.
"Although Trump's reciprocal tariffs have been delayed again, this time to 1 August, and PCs currently remain exempt from tariffs regardless of origin, the underlying uncertainty persists."
