TikTok-famous Chinese hot pot chain to open at Bay Area mall
Briefly

Haidilao, a renowned hot pot chain, is opening a new location at Serramonte Center in Daly City, following the launch of a Korean supermarket. Known for its unique dining experience, Haidilao offers tableside entertainment, playrooms for kids, and additional services like manicures and massages. Founded in 1994 by Zhang Yong, the brand operates over 1,400 restaurants globally. The new location will be over 7,000 square feet. Haidilao’s strategy avoids opening in Chinatowns to appeal to non-Chinese customers instead.
Haidilao is known for hot pot, a communal dining experience where guests cook raw vegetables and thinly sliced meats in a boiling broth at their table.
With more than 1,400 restaurants across the globe, Forbes lists Yong's current net worth at $5.7 billion.
The space intended for the Daly City hot pot restaurant is over 7,000 square feet, according to the Serramonte Center website.
Another unique business strategy is that it does not open restaurants in Chinatowns across North American cities; the goal is to attract more non-Chinese customers.
