I started the blog in 2013, but I only took it full-time about a year before starting Penny Linn. While managing the blog, I had a corporate career at Major League Baseball, where I worked on the social media team for over five years."
"I initially learned to stitch from my grandma, who inspired the name of the business, and then I really got into it in college at the University of Kentucky. I picked it back up again in 2018 when I started stitching custom belts for my dad and husband, and a ring bearer pillow for my wedding in 2019. Little did I know that this would be the perfect hobby to fall back in love with as the pandemic approached."
Krista LeRay founded Penny Linn, a needlepoint store offering hand-painted canvases and accessories. She ran the blog Covering The Bases full-time after starting it in 2013 and previously worked on the social media team at Major League Baseball for over five years. LeRay learned stitching from her grandmother, practiced needlepoint in college, and resumed the craft in 2018 by making custom belts and a ring bearer pillow for her 2019 wedding. The approaching pandemic reignited her passion for stitching. Frustration with antiquated needlepoint shopping experiences and a lack of fun, modern designs prompted her to create new canvases and accessories and launch Penny Linn.
