"We are taking steps to reinvest across our business and align our structure with our strategic priorities, which will affect certain roles across our workforce. The formal notification comes as the company announced that it would cut 6pc of its global workforce."
"Under Irish law, multinational firms that are supported by the state are obliged to notify the government if they intendent to seek redundancies of over 30 people. The jobs warning is the third time in 18 months that the tech company has sought to reduce staff numbers."
eBay has informed the Irish government of a restructuring process affecting its Blanchardstown operation, which employs around 1,000 people. The company announced a 6% reduction in its global workforce of 12,300 employees. While no formal collective redundancy notification has been submitted yet, Irish law requires multinational firms to notify the government of redundancies exceeding 30 people. This marks the third workforce reduction in 18 months, with fewer than 100 Irish staff affected in previous rounds. Seventy percent of eBay's Irish workforce operates remotely. The company stated it is realigning its structure with strategic priorities. Recent financial results showed fourth-quarter sales of $2.97 billion, though profitability declined from $679 billion to $528 billion.
