eBay is cutting more than 200 jobs at TCGplayer
Briefly

eBay plans to cut 220 jobs at TCGplayer's Syracuse card authentication center, transitioning operations to a warehouse in Kentucky. The union representing TCGplayer employees has accused eBay of attempting to dodge bargaining obligations by moving. Following the union's formation in 2023, unfair labor practice charges were filed against eBay. The labor organization claims that eBay has employed strategies like surveillance and harassment of union-supportive employees. Meanwhile, eBay's spokesperson acknowledged the impact of these layoffs while emphasizing support for affected workers during this transition.
This was a difficult decision. We recognize the near-term impact it will have on our employees, their families and the Syracuse community, and we are dedicated to taking care of our people during this transition.
Deploying security guards to stalk us immediately after letting us know that we would all be losing our jobs is psychological warfare, said Zach Freeman, an eBay worker and TCGunion-CWA Local 1123 member.
